Product DNA - Defining each product

Packaging that ignores product-level attributes risks blending into the shelf or sending mixed signals. A clear Product DNA makes sure your pack communicates the right benefits, category fit, and brand alignment every time.

How to create your Product DNA

  1. Access the module
    • You're only able to create a Product DNA, when your Brand DNA is finished. 
    • Every brand can have multiple Product DNAs, for every product or range within the brand. 
    • Your Product DNA is also required before you can go to the Identity Studio or do a scan or compare for this brand.
  2. Fill in the guided sections
    • Category, functional benefits, sensory cues, format...
    • The same applies to the Product DNA: some questions can be hard, but they are made to let you think thoroughly about your product.
  3. Save and publish
    • Once saved, you will see your Product DNA which you can download to share with designers or team members outside the tool. 
    • Your Product DNA connects now with
      • the Identity Studio to pick your favorite approved colors, typography and image inspiration
      • the Scan and Compare to validate and optimize your design
